My Invitation to be More Powerful to the Democratic Party

(This was my attempt to get the national Democratic Party in the United States to lead the US and the world to energy independence and to fight climate change. I spent 7 months November 2006 to May 2007, writing it, lobbying all the officials I listed at the top of this letter, emailing and hand delivering this letter multiple times to all of them and to their offices.)

Democratic National Committee
Colorado Democratic Party
Colorado State Party Chair, Pat Waak
Elbra Wedgworth
Mayor Hickenlooper
Gov. Ritter
Howard Dean

Good Day all,

This is an Invitation to Be More Powerful to the Democratic Party from Ideas to Save the Planet.

Please donate solar panels, wind generators, and hydrogen fuel cells to the Pepsi Center in Denver and make the 2008 Democratic National Convention the first zero emission and energy independent convention ever.

Please have the moral and political will to lead the nation to energy independence, by acting on this good idea.

If you all implemented this idea you would be more powerful and more successful in your efforts because you would:

Win back independents and unaffiliated voters that have given up on Democrats, by now demonstrating how serious we are about environmental protection, fighting climate change, and energy independence.

You could add substance to your arguments against the Iraqi war, by demonstrating that we don’t have to have wars for oil, by showing voters how we can live sustainably for solar, wind, hydrogen, and water, now and that we don’t have to wait another 20 years.

It would put a huge global spotlight on Gov. Ritter’s plans for solar and wind.

This would also support American and Coloradoan solar, wind, and hydrogen manufacturing and installation jobs, now, and would demonstrate to the nation that you will support them when you get into office. Thus showing everyone how you’re going to revive our manufacturing base and create millions of good jobs, here in Colorado and all over the nation.

Spend some of the money you’re raising that you would normally spend on TV commercials and campaign consultants, to buy solar panels, wind generators, hydrogen fuel cells, and donate them to the City of Denver and the Pepsi Center, as a good will gesture for our hosting your convention. You are demanding that the City of Denver come up with $80 million, and you could come up with $1-10 million for this idea. Because it would generate FREE advertising and FREE global media coverage, that would have more impact than the same money going to normal TV commercials. Also it would create the first zero emission and energy independent sports and music venue in the nation, if not the world, which would be a 30-40 year commercial for the Democratic Party, instead of just a few 30 second TV commercials.

Also the Democratic Party would be more powerful and win every election if they implemented the following ideas:

Change the Democratic National Platform to make it a national priority to fight climate change and implement our energy independence by converting to the Hydrogen Economy that is fueled by solar, wind, and water.

Make it a National Priority to convert to every home, business, building, and car to solar, wind, and hydrogen. Everyone can generate their own hydrogen gas for solar, wind, and water, and fill up their cars and run their homes on residential hydrogen fuel cells, today.

Also fueling this new Hydrogen Economy from the water from our water taps, from our rain gutters, and from desalinating the oceans of water that is all around us. Desalinating seawater and distributing it via tanker trucks and rail lines or water pipelines to anywhere its need, would also provide us all the water we need to end droughts, no matter what climate change does and show the World how to do the same.

2. Instead of spending hundreds of millions of dollars on stupid TV commercials that have very little impact on voters and are subsidizing media corporations, the national party could be spending 10-30% of its war chest money subsidizing renewable energy manufacturing companies by buying solar panels, wind generators, and hydrogen fuel cells, hydrogen gas tanks, electrolyzers, and batteries, and hydrogen fuel cell buses and cars or ones converted to burn hydrogen.

Make it a priority to have a Hydrogen powered Democratic Party and zero emission and energy independent campaigns.

Do so by installing solar panels, wind generators, and residential fuel cells in every national, state, and local office, distributing hydrogen buses and cars to all candidates to campaign in, and providing small fuel cells to candidates to power their microphones for their speeches, and even power their TV studios when they make their TV commercials.

If you did all this you would be more powerful and visionary and would change people’s perception that we don’t have a plan to fight climate change and that we are weak and spineless. And it would show that what you’re going to do for the rest of the nation when you get in office, which is convert the whole nation to solar, wind, and hydrogen.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to my ideas. It is possible to save the planet and live sustainably, now. We don’t have to wait until tomorrow. We just have to make it a priority, and go about doing it.

Please take up my Invitation and Choose to Be More Powerful! Choose to be bold and visionary! If you did, you would win every election.

Lead the nation and then the world to the Hydrogen Economy, and take action to manifest our being energy independent and save the world from climate change.

Thank you for having the courage to take action to save the planet. The future of this nation and the world depends on it.

PS

I followed Thom Hartmann’s advice of trying to infiltrate the Party and generate change from the inside, but unfortunately they didn’t listen to me and didn’t act on these suggestions. They never even called or wrote me in response to these ideas, which was very rude, as well as a missed opportunity.

They could have mobilized the nation already, and they would have put people back to work, revived our economy, and won the 2010 elections. They lost the 2010 elections because people were mad from being out of work, and progressives like me were mad because the Democrats have refused to listen to our input, like these ideas. They are going to continues to lose if they continue to be unresponsive to the voters, and hesitant and spineless in their approach to solving our collective problems. It would all be so different if the only Choose to Be More Powerful.

Please see my chapter in my book, My Invitation to be More Powerful to the Democratic Party, for more details.
