My Critique of An Inconvenient Truth
Al, I’ve seen your Movie, An Inconvenient Truth, and I thought it was very good and important. Thank you for speaking out to end Climate Change and choosing to be a Hero for the Planet.
But I thought that you could have been even more powerful in your arguments and I’m here to give another Invitation to Be More Powerful and suggestions on how you could do even better. Thank you for listening. (In my first email to the Al’s forum, I suggested that he help me change the Democratic Party Platform and include Converting the Hydrogen, Solar, and Wind, as the True Defense of the nation.)
I think that you would have been even more powerful and more effectual in your beautiful mission to educate and mobilize the nation and the World to fight Climate Change if you had done and said the following things, in your movie and in the future.
You’re shown in your movie being driven around in a car and that car could have been a Hydrogen Fuel Cell Car. You could have shown everyone how it works and drank the water off the tail pipe, because that’s the only emission, Water and heat. These cars exists, they’re just expensive and you have millions of dollars lying around, so you could have played it that way, and didn’t.
Or that car could have been a gasoline burning car that has been converted to a Hydrogen Burning Car, which regular people are doing on the American Hydrogen Association’s website, they have a kit you can buy for converting cars for $2,000. You could have shown us how everyone can convert their own cars and generate our own Hydrogen gas from Solar, Wind, and Water.
You could have called upon the rich and celebrities to convert their mansions and cars to Hydrogen Fuel Cells, Solar, and Wind and said something like ‘Bling your Fuel Cell if you want, but do your end to fight Climate Change.’ If people who can afford to did it now, it would support sustainable technology manufactures jobs and companies and eventually bring the price down for everyone else.
You could have converted your ranch to Solar, Wind, and Residential Fuel Cells, then given us a tour of your zero emission energy independent home. The technology already exists, other people already live this way, and you have the money to live this way, but you chose not to do so. If you converted your house would have been an example to the World that we don’t have to wait another 20 years to live and drive this way. I have a friend who was shocked that you’re not living this way already. You have been talking about Climate Change for 30 years, but you haven’t been living in a zero emission energy independent home for 30 years? At least as far as I know you’re not. If you have been, you didn’t mention it in the movie. If you had, you would have been able to say to the World, “I live in a house like that, and you can too,” which would have inspired others to live this way.
George W. Bush runs his Texas Ranch on Hydrogen Fuels Cells right now. But Bush gets his Hydrogen from Oil, Natural Gas, and Nuclear and Water, not Solar, Wind and Water. So in the media – Bush is doing more about Hydrogen that you are Al. You could be turning that around by showing them by example and by converting your own home and cars.
You could have also said to the World, “It’s stupid to get zero emission Hydrogen from a Nuclear power plants that produces deadly waste for millions of years.”
Al, you also could have taken Oprah on a video tour of your zero emission energy independent home when you were on her show.
Please convert your homes, cars, and limos to Solar, Wind, and Hydrogen Fuel Cells in the future.
Your lecture hall, video screen, and microphone in the movie, could have been powered by Fuel Cells. An Inconvenient Truth could have been a 100% Zero Emission and Energy Independent movie. All the lighting, cameras, editing, production could all have been powered by Hydrogen, Solar, and Wind, too.
I emailed you before and suggested that you to drive up to the premiere of your movie in a Hydrogen Fuel Cell Car. If you had listened to me, you would have been on the news about it, Worldwide, and been clearly walking your talk, and people would have taken you even more seriously. (Al could have arrived at the Oscars, where he got his well-deserved Oscar for this movie, in a Hydrogen Limo. He could have also driven up to the Nobel Prize office in a Hydrogen Limo, too.)
You could have said in the movie that the Kyoto accords only call for an 8% reduction of 1990 green house emissions. They originally wanted an 80% reduction, but it got thinned down to only 8%. Then you could have said, “Bush won’t even agree to 8% and I’m talking about a 100% reduction of all emissions not just 1990 level of emissions.” (Which you didn’t call for either, which I am, and you could have.)
Finally you didn’t talk about specific details about the technologies enough nor did you speak powerfully enough about the concrete actions that we can take, in your movie.
You did say what I’m saying in, My Call to Greatness to the American People, which is that if we have beaten slavery and segregation, and won WWI and II and went to the moon, then we can mobilize to fight Climate Change. Thank you for saying that. But you didn’t say how we should mobilize.
I’m speaking more powerfully than you are Al, because I’m saying that we can convert the entire nation to Hydrogen, Solar, and Wind and Water, in only 4 years not 20-50 more years, and do the whole Planet in 20 years or less, if we only made it a National and International priority to do so.
If you would have said that, and been more specific about mobilizing the nation to fight Climate Change as the true defense of the nation and build Solar panels, residential Wind generators, residential Hydrogen Fuel Cells, Hydrogen gas tanks, electrolyzers (which get Hydrogen out of Water and was invented in 1805, 204 years ago), and install them in every home and building in the country, build millions of Fuel Cell cars for the US and then the World, convert existing cars to burn Hydrogen, convert existing power plants and factories to burn Hydrogen instead of coal, build desalinization plants, and water pipelines like we did in WW II to build guns, bullets, tanks, and planes. I think that would have been even more powerful, because you would have inspired the nation to take action toward a specific future, instead of just spending three quarters of the movie scaring people and only mentioning Solar, Wind, and Hydrogen in one sentence and not mentioning your solutions in the movie and leaving them for the credits, which most people may have already walked out on.
I think people do need to be educated and even scared into action and you did a great job of speaking powerfully about that. But all I hear people talk about when they talk about your movie is how scary it was and one friend of mine couldn’t even finish watching it because it was too scary for her. All I’m saying is, that people could be talking about how inspired to action they are after seeing that movie, instead.
Anyway, that’s just my opinion, thanks for listening to all that Al. Thanks for taking up my Invitation to Be More Powerful by choosing to act on these suggestions and maybe even re-editing your movie or changing the way you make your next movie. Maybe your next movie will be called, “It is possible to Save the Planet, so let’s get on it!”
