My heart goes out to the people of Japan after the earthquake and tsunami.
I have been an advocate for the elimination of all nuclear energy power plants for many years.
I have a chapter in my book called, Universal Hydrogen, Solar, and Wind Instead of Universal Nuclear Bombs and End Nuclear Energy, where I point out that in 2007 Japan they nearly had a nuclear accident because a earthquake damaged a nuclear power plant there.
Unfortunately they continued to use nuclear power, than they had a terrible earthquake and tsunami last year and a, major nuclear accident at Fuckashima.
I've been saying in my book for years that people don't mobilize until things effect them personally. And now after this accident at least some people are finally waking up and realizing that nuclear energy is not safe and they are moving away from it. Germany has decided to stop using nuclear energy and Japan will shut down all their nuclear power plants this month, in May of 2012.
But this earthquake still hasn't woken up the people and prominent environmentalist like Al Gore and President Obama, who are stupidly advocating for nuclear energy as a way to fight climate change. (Obama and Energy Secretary Chu killed Hydrogen funding, but are funding nuclear energy) Because this earthquake is yet another example that nuclear energy is not pollution free or safe.
We don't need nuclear energy to save the planet, pollute or irradiate thousands of people and make land uninhabitable for years, or produce deadly waste that lasts for millions of years.
And I am proving it right now, on this website.
Please see my Burn Hydrogen, Instead of Coal, Oil, or Natural Gas page to see a video I found on YouTube of somebody boiling water with a hydrogen flame and stove. That's all nuclear power plants do, they boil water to generate steam which turn turbines which generate electricity.
Solar, Wind, Tidal, and Hydrogen are all energy abundant and zero emission. If we made it a priority to use them the entire planet could be zero emission and energy independent. I'm talking about every building being powered individually by Solar, Wind, and Hydrogen fuel cells. Because that is real energy independence, and because then we wouldn't need large scale power plants of any kind; coal, natural gas, or dam rivers for hydroelectric power, or need nuclear reactors and their accidents and waste, and we all could tear down every grid on earth and be free and Clear of all power companies. But until that happens all power grids could become zero emission by converting power plants to burn Hydrogen.
As I say in my book, Japan is surrounded by oceans of water, and thus unlimited Hydrogen and they could using the extra water of the rising oceans as a weapon against climate change by generating their own fuel, and powering their nation safely, without having nuclear accidents.
So could every nation on Earth.
In my book I also have a chapter call, My Invitation to Be More Powerful to Helen Caldicott, who is a hero of mine because she has been fighting nuclear weapons and energy for over 30 years. In it I suggest that Helen challenge the next nuclear waste jockey she debates to drink his own nuclear waste on live TV while she drinks the fresh water off the tail pipe of a hydrogen fuel cell. Because I think that people don't realize the consequences of their policies until it happens to them and because it would be a powerful demonstration of the difference between deadly nuclear waste and zero emission Hydrogen.
Helen's book, Nuclear Power is not the Answer, has much more detailed information about why nuclear technology is terrible for the planet and humanity.
Please join me, Helen Caldicott, and other activists, in working to end the use of all nuclear energy and nuclear weapons.
Then also advocate for the full and global conversion to Solar, Wind, and Hydrogen and work towards a zero emission planet and the energy independence of every nation.
The survival of this Planet and all of Humanity depends on it.
