Ideas To Save The Planet

The following is My First Invitation to Be More Powerful to Barack Obama. I wanted to help Barack Obama win the nomination, so I wrote to give him some suggestions.

Dear Sen. Barack Obama,

I hope this letter finds you well and happy.

My name is Todd Norman and I have some ideas that can help you be more powerful and effective in your Presidential campaign and in your intention of manifesting positive change for America.

Thank you for listening and acting on these suggestions.

I’ve suggested to Howard Dean and others in the Democratic Party that they go all the way and Go Clear instead of just Going Green, by donating hydrogen, solar, and wind technologies to The Pepsi Center and convert the 2008 Democratic National Convention to be the first zero emission and energy independent Convention ever. I also suggested that the entire Party use these technologies to run their offices, cars, buses, and TV studios, commercials, speeches, and run zero emission and energy independent campaigns, and thus do what they can to lead the nation to fight Climate Change.

I did send your campaign an email about it in early 2007 in an effort get you to add your support to these ideas, but no one ever got back to me. Maybe you just didn’t get my mail because it was filtered out by your staff. So I’m writing, again, to try to communicate these ideas to you in the hope that you will hear my wisdom, act on it, be more successful in your campaign and save the planet, our country, and our economy by leading the entire nation to become zero emission and energy independent.

Howard Dean said, "We're looking into it,” when I spoke to him and there is going to be a lot of Green aspects to the Convention, but no one ever talk to me about these ideas so I can only assume that they are not implementing them. It’s probably too late to add your support of my Convention idea. I gave them to the Party 1.5 years ago, so they had plenty of time to do it. But you still could advocate for these technologies and add my other ideas to your campaign and to your agenda when you are elected.

If it is too late to convert the entire building of the Convention, and the Democratic National Committee won’t take action, then you could give your acceptance speech at the Convention with your microphone powered by a portable hydrogen fuel cell. It could still be the first zero emission and energy independent Presidential Nomination.

Please consider using some of your TV Commercial campaign money to buy solar panels, small wind generators, and hydrogen fuel cells, convert your campaign offices, and your limos, cars, and tour buses to burn hydrogen, because doing so makes them negative emission and they clean the air instead of polluting it, as you drive.

Please make the conversion to sustainable technologies a personal priority in your own life and your campaign, then a national priority when you’re elected.

If you did, you would get free advertising, on top of clean technologies. You could be on all the media for your hydrogen fuel powered speeches and commercials, and hydrogen burning cars and buses, and your bold vision for reviving the economy and saving the planet, instead of being on all the media about Pastor Wright.

I used to be a TV Reporter in a small town, and if you had rolled up to my town in a negative emission hydrogen burning Bus, that runs on the Hydrogen gas you produced yourself, I would have come out to cover that. Thus you would have received free media coverage in my town. I went to a Democratic Caucus meeting and there were people for the national party talking about the Convention, and they said that they are having a hard time getting their message out, because people use cell phones now, which they can’t call, and they have TVO’s that cut out commercials. But people don’t usually block the news, or news papers! This conversion would generate local and national news coverage, for free, and you’re media money would be more effective in getting your message out, more than just another TV commercial would. You could also highlight these technologies and your use of them, in the TV commercials you do make, and even use them to power the TV studio you use to shoot your commercials, which would make them more powerful, visionary, and effective, and generate even more free media coverage.

You would then be financially supporting sustainable technology manufacturing companies and American jobs, with some of your campaign millions, instead of giving it all to Media Corporations.

You would prove to the voters, with your actions, that you’re serious about fighting climate change and our energy independence, and demonstrating what you’re going to do when you get into office, and not just talking about it.

You could not only be historic as the first African American President, but you could also be historic for the first zero emission and energy independent Presidential campaign and nomination, as well.

If you need money to do this, you could talk to Oprah. I’m sure she and others will be very willing to contribute money to your buying Solar panels, wind generators, and hydrogen fuel cells, hydrogen buses, cars, and limos, and supporting your efforts to save the planet, rather than giving money to just another TV commercial. Also talk to Roy McAlister, the President of the American Hydrogen Association, who can help you convert the cars, limos, and buses.

You could also demand that the Presidential Debates – the stage, the room, and the broadcast, be powered cleanly, as well.

I’m sorry I haven’t read your book, The Audacity of Hope, but I’m impressed by your passion, intelligence, and vision. If you acted on these ideas you could be winning over more voters by putting more substance behind your rhetoric about Hope and Change.

Thank you for opposing the Iraq war. That’s the main reason I’m supporting you in your bid for office, by attempting to make it more powerful. Now please demonstrate that we don’t need wars for oil, by running a Clear, clean, and zero emission energy independent campaign, because it makes your efforts against the war more powerful and effective.

Please stop supporting off shore oil drilling, clean coal, and nuclear energy as a solution to our energy crisis and climate change.

Hydrogen beats oil and nuclear on every level, environmentally, economically, and politically. Converting to renewable and clean sources of energy would totally help our failing economy, create jobs, clean up our skies, eliminate our need to fight wars for oil, and be doing what we can to save the Planet for our children.

Hydrogen beats oil politically because you will be able to powerfully say to the American people... ‘I’m living out my spirituality, morality, and politics by running a zero emission and energy independent, “Clear,” campaign. My tour bus is a negative emission bus and we are cleaning the air as we drive. I’m not polluting your children with my home, car, and operations. If you choose me, my polices will not pollute or bankrupt your children and I will lead the nation to become zero emission and energy independent. With my plan we will never again be held hostage to high energy, transportation, health care, and food costs. My opponent is polluting your children with his car, his choices and policies, and is happy to have your children fight a war for oil for another 100 years. I voted against the Iraq war and everyday I’m proving that we don’t have to have wars for oil, because we don’t need to use oil any more to fuel our cars or power and heat our homes. My opponent’s policies are killing our economy, the planet, our best and brightest, and people in other countries, unnecessarily for oil. I am not.

I believe that saving the planet is the true defense of every nation and every child. I have the passion, vision, and talent to change America for the better. Therefore I believe that I am your Clear choice to lead our nation and the world into this new century. We can save the planet and our economy by going into a better direction. So let’s all, get on it, now!’

If you spoke and acted that powerfully, people would be even more impressed, inspired, and you would win over more voters, including independent and non-voters, which as you rightly point out are 50% of the population, and who could greatly help you get elected.

Please also be more powerful and specific about what you’re going to do in office. Not being specific enough was the mistake that Al Gore and John Kerry made when they ran, and they ended up appearing to be vague and spineless.

Please act on these ideas when you get into office.

Also, when you win the election please drive up to the Inauguration in a hydrogen burning limo and power that speech with a fuel cell, as well. Convert the White House to solar, wind, and hydrogen, then lead the nation by your example.

Sen. Obama, please choose to Be More Powerful and lead the United States and the world to fight climate change by becoming zero emission and energy independent. The survival of the planet and prosperity and security of our nation depends on it.

Unfortunately, he didn't listen to me. If he had, doing so would have given more substance to his slogans about Change and he would have more powerfully countered McCain's ideas about using nuclear energy and off shore drilling. (We would for sure strike hydrogen off shore in seawater, but we may or may not strike oil or gas. Also Hydrogen is 100% zero emission, and Nuclear is deadly for millions of years.) And we would be further down the road to a zero emission and energy independent nation and planet.

I voted for Obama and I'm glad he won, I was just trying to make him more powerful so he could win, and to inspire him fix our economy, lead the nation to real energy independence, and fight global warming.

Now that he has won, I've written him again to help him mobilize the nation to save the planet.

Hopefully he will listen to me and act on these ideas in the future. All things are possible.
